The joint capsule is a membrane which keeps the joint fluid in place around the bone ending. Keep in mind that healthy joint fluid is like a thick syrup. If the synovial tissue of the joint capsule becomes inflamed, released degrading enzymes that break down the thickness of the joint fluid.

Directly protecting the bone endings is cartilage – a smooth, porcelain-like surface that contains nerve endings and allows uninhibited motion. When the cartilage breaks down and the surface becomes rough, joint movement can create a firing of nerve endings and your dog will experience pain.

"Oscar is my senior (12 1/2 yr old) 75lb Boxer. On occasion, he is visibly in pain and often times has difficulty getting up from a lying or sitting position. Oscar is on a good nutritional raw food diet and has organic fruits and veggies as treats.
