(DR. BESSENT) Well, we developed Herbsmith Glimmer as a source of Omega 3’s and a source of Omega 6. With the thought that, salmon oil is fabulous and salmon oil is a great source of Omega 3 but it’s a really big fish and that really big fish has eaten lots of little fish and any toxins or heavy metals that all of those other fish ate gets concentrated in a salmon’s body and concentrated in their fat and in salmon oil. So Herbsmith, we went about it in a different way. We said, let’s use Omega 3 sources that come from the most bottom part of the food chain. So we used algae, and we used krill, and we used anchovy oil, with the idea that they were the cleanest of Omega 3s. That they did not concentrate all of the components that you’re going to see, all of the heavy metals and the toxins you’re going to see in giant fish. So salmon oil is great, absolutely. It’s wonderful. But, using something that’s lower on the food chain is cleaner. So in Glimmer, we have anchovy oil and we have krill and we have DHA from algae. And then we also looked at the Omega 6’s. And Omega 6 fatty acids, the one that’s essential for a dog is called GLA. And GLA is really found in things like borage oil and evening primrose so we added that to Glimmer. And the borage oil and the evening primrose is great for developing the integrity of skin. And the Omega 3’s are great for developing the luster and the gleam to the coat. And then of course because I love herbs and because I have studied herbs my entire professional career, we added polygonen and black sesame seed as herbs that also have great effect and have been used for thousands of years for the luster and sheen of a coat. So, we kind of used… We used Omega 3’s we used Omega 6’s, we used herbs, we used modern science, and we also used ancient tradition to come up with a formula that’s not only going to nourish the coat but also nourish the skin at the same time. And in my feeling, as a holistic veterinarian, I would add those in. So personally would I feed my dog some salmon oil? Sure. But then I would add some krill and so I might do Herbsmith Glimmer for a while and then I might add a little bit of salmon oil. But, I think the most important part for oils is kind of changing it up all the time. And particularly trying to go with things that are lower species; that are not as concentrated with heavy metals and toxins.
